The previous application made to you on my
behalf was a kind hearted one of the wife's but done
without my knowledge as I would have pointed out the
uselessness of trying to interfere on an acting appoint-
ment and so saved you the bother.
I am sorry I have not been able to make this
letter shorter but I am anxious you should have a clear
outline of the matter.
